Mother's Day Checklist

Want to wow mom on Mother’s Day? Use this checklist to help you plan a day she’ll never forget.

Four Weeks Before

  • Ask mom if she has any special wishes for Mother’s Day and make a note of these
  • Get in the Mother's Day mindset- search the web for Mother's Day contests and enter one!
  • If you are going to be treating mom to a spa day, meal, B&B night, show, or concert, make reservations or buy tickets now
  • Arrange/confirm childcare if you are hiring a babysitter
  • Place flower order(s). If you are purchasing online, order now to avoid last minute fees. If you will be buying flowers locally, pre-order the bouquet from your local florist so they will be ready. If your plans include church on Sunday, consider getting her a beautiful corsage.

Two Weeks Before

  • Create or buy a Mother’s Day card.
  • Purchase or make gift(s) for her, wrap gift(s) and attach card.
  • Schedule cleaning service or plan to clean the house with the help of kids the day before
  • Plan to rent Mother’s Day themed movies
  • Check with your local radio station to see if you can dedicate a song to her

The Day Before

  • Pick up flowers on order or purchase flowers
  • Send an e-card from the children to help them get ready
  • Buy groceries to make breakfast, brunch or dinner
  • Ask children to clean their rooms and finish all their homework. If they are stuck, free help may be available online from a live tutor.
  • Ask children to help clean the house and detail her car today or on Mother’s Day as a gift
  • Charge all batteries for cameras, phones, and camcorders

Mother's Day

  • Put out flowers and gifts
  • Fix breakfast for mom and serve her in bed or let her have a leisurely morning
  • Have children tell her why she's a great mom
  • Take pictures and video - post pics on Facebook
  • Skype with grandmothers, other mothers, or her friends
  • Read about the history of Mother’s Day online or watch a Mother's Day theme movie
